Archer has started building a high-volume eVTOL manufacturing facility in the U.S. state of Georgia, which is said to be the first of its kind in the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry.
The 350,000-square-foot facility to be built near the Covington Municipal Airport in the U.S. state of Georgia will be able to manufacture 650 aircraft per year. To support Archer’s production goal of making 2,300 aircraft per year, the facility has the potential to be expanded by an additional 800,000 square feet.
In January, automaker Stellantis agreed to provide Archer up to $150 million in funding and help to bring the U.S. eVTOL manufacturer’s Midnight aircraft to market. Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer Maserati will also join forces to scale up aircraft production, which is believed to be the key to unlocking the potential of the sector before commercialization.
“We are thrilled to be taking this next important step as we work closely with Stellantis to ramp up our high-volume manufacturing capabilities at this new facility in Covington, GA” said Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO, Archer.
The facility construction is supported by the State of Georgia and Newton County. Archer plans to hold a ceremonial event in April to mark this progress.
