Blade Air Mobility Completes ALIA-250 Test Flight

Blade Air Mobility has completed the test flight of BETA Technologies’ ALIA-250 electric aircraft at the Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York.

The six-seater aircraft developed by BETA Technologies have a noise level that is 1/10th that of a conventional helicopter.

Rob Wiesenthal, Chief Executive Officer, Blade, described the aircraft as a “game changer” for Blade and New York City’s transportation system once it gets certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He said the successful demonstration is a “milestone” in the company’s transition from helicopters to electric vertical aircraft.

“We are pleased that our partners at BETA have designed the right aircraft with the requisite range, capacity, and noise profile, for use in our key markets, including our homebase of New York City,” Wiesenthal said.

Blade purchased up to 20 ALIA-250 aircraft in April 2021 as part of its plan to deploy these eVTOLs in the US.
