CAAC Approves EHang’s EH216-S Certification Plan

CAAC Approves EHang’s EH216-S Certification Plan

EHang said its Project Specific Certification Plan of EH216-S has been officially approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The EH216-S is on track to be the first certificated autonomous eVTOL aircraft in the world.

So far the CAAC has confirmed its review of the aircraft’s performance and flight characteristics, structural strength, design and configuration and airborne human-computer interaction.

The EH216-S is a passenger-grade autonomous eVTOL that has safely completed more than 30,000 test flights, including manned flights and test flights in extreme weather conditions such as typhoons, deserts and fog.

“EHang has always been committed to bold innovation, careful analysis and prudent verification, and contributing our experience and expertise to formulating relevant industry standards and norms, as well as leading the development of the global eVTOL industry,” said Hu Huazhi, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EHang.

EHang’s EH216 eVTOL adopts a multi-rotor configuration with a range of 35 km and a cruising speed of 100 km/h, using an 8-axis and 16-propeller design.

“Completing the airworthiness certification process is a necessary and critical step to further validate the product safety. We are fully confident to obtain the EH216-S Type Certificate as we have basically done the most arduous work by now. We will make continued efforts to accelerate all the remaining processes in the upcoming months in order to obtain the EH216-S Type Certificate as soon as possible,” Hu said.
