Embraer and Eve Assess Autonomous Flight Technologies

Embraer and Eve recently undertook a series of flight tests in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They aimed to check how autonomous system technologies worked whilst flying.

The companies’ overall goal was to make sure autonomous flights could operate safely in dense urban environments.

The project explored scenarios for take-off, climb, cruise, approach, and landing flight phases.

Embraer also collaborated with Daedalean, Iris Automation, and Near Earth Autonomy.

“All information and data raised in this project, as well as the technical solutions under development, will set the path for fully autonomous flight of eVTOLs in the future,” states Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve.

Eve recently teamed up with Thales to develop electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles.
