Lilium Announces Collaboration with Honeywell and DENSO

Lilium is partnering with Honeywell and DENSO.

The announcement was made during the 2022 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Honeywell and DENSO will assist with developing and manufacturing the electric motor (e-motor) that will power Lilium’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Honeywell previously helped to launch Lilium’s eVTOL avionics and flight control systems.

“Lilium’s Procurement strategy is to engage with the technology providers with the most suitable expertise. We are already making great progress with Honeywell on its Honeywell Anthem integrated flight desk and flight control computers, and we are delighted to deepen our relationship by also partnering with Honeywell and DENSO on our e-motor,” states Yves Yemsi, Chief Operating Officer at Lilium.

The e-motor is projected to be reliable, with zero emissions whilst operating.

According to Stephane Fymat, Vice President and General Manager of Urban Air Mobility at Honeywell Aerospace, “Lilium’s innovation, combined with our experience in aerospace, will help to bring about cleaner, more sustainable ways for people to travel for centuries to come.”

Lilium recently filed 37 new patents with the European Patent Office (EPO) to protect the core technology of its eVTOL.
