Lilium Receives Order for Five eVTOLs

Lilium, the German eVTOL manufacturer, has signed an agreement with Swiss private jet and helicopter company Air-Dynamic SA that includes deposit payments for up to five Lilium Jets. 

The deal sees Lilium get its foot in the door in the high-end European business travel and tourism market as Air-Dynamic SA will use the eVTOLs to serve its private jet customers in Switzerland and Italy.

“With today’s partnership, Lilium deepens its reach into Europe’s premium travel market. We’re leveraging Air-Dynamic’s innovative and entrepreneurial approach to operating and managing private jets and helicopters in the region,” Sebastien Borel, CCO of Lilium said. “The partnership fits well in our commercial first phase strategy to engage the premium segment with our impressive Lilium Pioneer Edition Jet.”

Raffaella Meledandri, CEO of Air-Dynamic SA, said the agreement marks an important milestone for the Lugano-based firm as it will be able to provide sustainable means of air travel. 

“We are excited to work with Lilium to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of aviation,” she said. “The first project’s goal is to connect Lugano directly with Milan City Center and in parallel to establish a good connection in Italy for the most touristic destinations such as Lake Como and Capri.”

Air-Dynamic SA has specialized in helicopter and jet charters for almost 20 years throughout Switzerland, Italy, Côte d’Azur, and the French Alps. The company has a fleet of two new generation PC-12s that are based at Lugano Airport and also manages various jets and helicopters on behalf of private owners and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders. 

The deal with Air-Dynamic SA is the latest accomplishment for Lilium in May 2023 as the Weßling-based eVTOL developer partnered with FlightSafety International (FSI) to develop flight simulation technology that will be used to train pilots. The Lilium Jet also underwent wind tunnel testing at the beginning of the month.
