Redwings to Purchase up to 20 eVTOLs from Jaunt

Redwings to Purchase up to 20 eVTOLs from Jaunt

Redwings, an aircraft and helicopter fleet operator, has signed a non-binding letter of intent with Jaunt Air Mobility to purchase up to 20 of its Jaunt Journey eVTOLs.

A total of 10 aircraft will be bought first with the option to procure 10 more later on.

The move is part of a wider strategic collaboration between the two parties as Jaunt will support Redwings in its bid to launch air taxi services across urban markets, starting with Mexico City.

“We are excited to work with an outstanding team at Redwings to bring urban air mobility to cities in Mexico,” Simon Briceno, Chief Commercial Officer for Jaunt, said. “Our Jaunt Journey’s exceptional main rotor technology with low rotor disc loading and tip speeds will provide Redwings with high efficiencies in vertical flight at high altitudes.”

Bernardo Moreno, President of Redwings, said the partnership with Jaunt will also cover operations, passenger experience, infrastructure, and market education.

He added that the company sought out safe aircraft with a low carbon footprint, which is how the partnership with Jaunt was formed.

“After researching many eVTOL aircraft, the Jaunt Journey offers the safest aircraft with low operational costs and, of course, the performance needed,” he said.

The collaboration with Redwings is the latest triumph for Jaunt as last month, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Blade India to launch eVTOL operations in India by 2027.

Based in Dallas, Texas, Jaunt is in the midst of certificating the Jaunt Journey eVTOL in Canada. The four-passenger aircraft can travel between 80 to 120 miles at a top speed of 175 mph.

“Jaunt now has customers throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. At the end of the day, we are highly confident in the Journey’s operational capabilities and our path to certification,” said Briceno.
