SkyDrive, the Japanese eVTOL developers, said its SD-05 electric aircraft won an iF Design Award in the Professional Concept category.
Selected out of almost 11,000 entries from 56 countries, the eVTOL was recognized as “The Most Accessible Flying Car.”
Takumi Yamamoto, Design Director at SkyDrive, was thrilled to have won the award, calling it a major milestone in bringing the SD-05 to market and providing people with a comfortable and seamless mode of air travel.
“I’m thrilled that our eVTOL has been awarded the design award following our cargo drone ‘SkyLift.’ I strongly believe that design can contribute significantly to the future of the sky we aspire to create,” he said. “It’s both inspiring and gratifying to receive such recognition, and I’m truly grateful.”
SkyDrive is the latest eVTOL manufacturer to win an iF Design Award after South Korea’s PLANA and Supernal, the advanced air mobility (AAM) arm of the Hyundai Motor Group.
Scheduled to launch in 2025, SkyDrive’s SD-05 can carry two passengers and a pilot, and fly between five to 10 km at a maximum cruise speed of 100 kph.
