Skyports Selects Westcott Space Cluster as Center for Drone Operations

Skyports has chosen Westcott Space Cluster as a place to launch drone operations. It will be designated as its command and control center for drone missions.

The company has also partnered with Satellite Applications Catapult to boost innovation and economic growth in the UK.

To achieve this, Skyports will use Westcott’s facilities to control its Beyond Visual Line Sight (BVLOS) drone flights.

“Our move to Westcott Space Cluster and work with Satellite Applications Catapult is testament to the fact that drone services have become a core solution for enhancing critical services with more sustainable, cost-effective alternatives. We look forward to moving our operational headquarters to an environment that will foster innovation and research and enable us to demonstrate and extend our capabilities,” states Alex Brown, Head of Drone Services at Skyports.

Drones will ensure operational lead times and overheads can be decreased, making it a cheaper, faster and more reliable way to transport equipment to hard-to-reach areas.

Skyports previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding

(MoU) with PARK24 to explore how vertiports can be integrated with parking lots.
