TCab Signs eVTOL Cooperation Agreement with Chinese University

TCab Tech, an eVTOL manufacturer committed to introducing Urban Air Mobility (UAM), has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) on the implementation of eVTOLs.

The long-term deal will see both parties collaborate on various areas, including eVTOL flight standards, flight tests, air traffic controls, aircraft maintenance, and the development of a talent pool.

TCab and the CAFUC also mapped out strategies to enhance China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. A pathway to speed up the introduction of electric aircraft in the country will be on the agenda.

Attending the signing ceremony were Tang Qingru, Deputy Dean of CAFUC, Wei Lin, Dean of the University of Flight Technology, Yon Wui NG, Founder and CEO of TCab Tech, and Jiang Jun, the company’s Co-Founder and CMO.

Founded in 1956 and based in Sichuan Province, the CAFUC is one of the world’s leading civil aviation pilot training institutions.

TCab was launched in May 2021 with approximately USD$10 million in seed funding from numerous investors that included Decent Capital, which was established by Tencent co-founder Jason Zeng.

The Shanghai-based firm is developing a five-seater eVTOL that can travel up to 200 km at a cruise speed of 260 kph. It aims to obtain type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) by 2025 before pursuing certification through the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

In February, TCab raised US$14.8 million in Series Pre-A financing and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Asian Express Aviation Group for 50 of its E20 eVTOLs.
