Volocopter to Use Swiss AS’s MRO Software

Volocopter has signed a multi-year contract to use AMOS, Swiss Aviation Software’s (Swiss-AS) maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) software, in its VoloCity air taxi fleet worldwide.

The deal is a significant milestone for Swiss-AS as it marks the first time the company’s software will be utilized in an urban air mobility (UAM) setting.

The software will provide ongoing assurance of the airworthiness of Volocopter’s fleet, with real-time monitoring and analysis of aircraft reliability. Additionally, it will serve as a connection point to Volocopter’s exclusive digital operating system, VoloIQ, which will monitor bookings made by customers and offer information regarding the status of the aircraft, its location, and battery health.

“With Swiss-AS as a partner, Volocopter is making strides to ensure that the maintenance of our VoloCity is managed and executed efficiently and foolproof,” Oliver Reinhardt, Volocopter’s Chief Risk and Certification Officer, said. “The AMOS software has a proven track record in the aviation industry – giving us confidence to obtain our Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) and Maintenance Organisation Approval (MOA), which is essential for our entry into service. Its compatibility with our VoloIQ is a must-have to provide outstanding customer service.”

Fabiano Faccoli, Chief Executive Officer of Swiss-AS, is ready to cross the UAM boundary and seamlessly integrate the company’s software into the VoloCity air taxis being developed.

“We are looking forward to stepping into the future of urban air mobility with Volocopter. Signing with Volocopter is confirmation that AMOS stands for innovation!” he said.

Volocopter plans to obtain type certification and launch the two-seater VoloCity in 2024. The electric aircraft has a range of 35 km and a maximum speed of 110 kph.
