VPorts says that it will build Quebec’s first regional electric AAM vertiport network, aiming to provide sustainable transportation via electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The network is expected to be extended to all major Quebec regions by 2030.
“We are excited to build the first vertiport network connecting all Quebec regions, including remote communities that are not adequately served by surface transportation or underserved by aviation,” said Dr. Fethi Chebil, President and Founder, VPorts.
Chebil said the company’s initial growth strategy is based on regional transportation of goods and efficient movement of patients, organs for transplants and medical equipment.
The vertiports network will focus on locations that optimize multimodal transportation connectivity, such as existing helipads and airports, as well as industrial and commercial areas.
VPorts has partnered with companies including engineering firm NUAIR, UAM Geomatics, Innovitech and AEdifica.
The building of vertiports will help shape Quebec’s AAM technology ecosystem and the future of the aerospace sector with great economic benefits.
“Quebec is proud to break new ground by becoming one of the first places in North America to introduce AAM,” said Suzanne M. Benoît, President, Aero Montreal.
VPorts aims to build and operate 1,500 vertiports across five continents by 2045. Its infrastructure will be integrated into local and global air mobility ecosystems by adopting a responsible approach, centralizing its operations and leveraging the most advanced technology.
