Airbus has chosen MAGicALL to provide motors for its CityAirbus NextGen electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The motor is called the MAGiDRIVE, and is the newest generation of electric motors from MAGicALL.
MAGicALL is a leading manufacturer of power electronics and magnetic components.
This will boost the execution and reliability of Airbus’ prototype. It will also integrate well with the aircraft’s design.
“The electric motors are a major component of our prototype: the high torque and low weight of the MAGiDRIVE as well as its robust design will be highly beneficial for the overall efficiency of the aircraft,” states Joerg P. Mueller, Airbus’ Head of Urban Air Mobility (UAM).
Airbus aims to launch eVTOLs to reduce emissions in aviation.
