Archerfield Airport Corporation Joins Greenbird

Greenbird, an advanced air mobility (AAM) platform based in Australia, announced on March 14th, 2022, that Archerfield Airport Corporation (Archerfield) has joined its platform.

Archerfield, a major hub for general aviation activity located in the south of Brisbane, is focusing on developing an urban air mobility (UAM) ecosystem in Australia. To achieve this, Archerfield will help provide aviation infrastructure for the airport to operate safely.

“Archerfield Airport Corporation is excited to support the development of AAM in Australia. We believe in the continued investment of research, safety and connectivity for our customers,” states Elita Huynh, Archerfield Airport’s Business Manager.

Australia hopes to launch electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles in 2024, with commercialization happening in 2026. Archerfield is projected to play a key part in the eVTOL network for the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

Other partners making up the group include Nautilus Aviation, Skyports, Griffith University, and more.

Skyports has also expanded into the Asia-Pacific region. February 15th, 2022, saw it sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Seletar Aerospace Park to support AAM growth in Singapore.
