According to a report on the Reuters website, the Belgium Government is set to introduce a new set of taxes that will have a big impact on business jet usage at Brussells Airport, the country’s capital city.
The report suggests that new taxes will be levied on older, less efficient aircraft and short-range flights of less than 500km.
Destinations less than 500km from Brusells include London, Paris and Amsterdam, all of which have been routes that have been flown frequently in the past.
The move follows the banning of flights from France to cities that can be reached in less than 2.5 hours by train.
The new taxes, which have been approved by the Belgium government, are due to come into effect on April 1, 2022.
