Bombardier Sells Wiring Business to Latecoere

French aeronautics company Latecoere recently acquired Bombardier’s Electrical Wiring and Interconnection Systems (EWIS) business in Querétaro, Mexico for around USD$50 million. The acquisition will expand Latecoere’s customer portfolio and is part of Bombardier’s restructuring plan to reduce debt and focus on more profitable business.

The site in Mexico manufactures harnesses and sub-assemblies needed for EWIS in the aerospace industry and earns an annual revenue of about USD$60 million. Latecoere will continue to be Bombardier’s EWIS supplier to its Global and Challenger aircraft under the agreement.

“We are pleased to finalize this acquisition and at the same time enter into a long-term supply agreement with Bombardier,” said Philip Swash, Chief Executive Officer, Latecoere.

Toulouse-based Latecoere has established long-standing partnerships with the world’s major aircraft manufacturers including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Mitsubishi Aircraft.  Latecoere also supports Dassault Aviation on the design of the Falcon 10X.

“The Bombardier team looks forward to working with Latécoère toward a seamless integration as we continue to build on the successes of both our companies,” said Paul Sislian, Executive Vice President, Operations and Operational Excellence, Bombardier.

Bombardier has reduced its total debt by USD$4.5 billion over the last two years – equating to a 45% reduction since 2020.
