Gogo’s LEO Broadband Service Launch Slated for 2024

Gogo Business Aviation, while gaining momentum with its partners, said it will launch its global Low Earth Orbit (LEO) broadband service in the second half of 2024.

The company has partnered with OneWeb, Gogo’s LEO satellite network provider, and Hughes Network Systems, its antenna provider, to achieve program milestones.

In February, Hughes completed the preliminary design review of Gogo’s electronically steerable antenna (ESA) assembly. At the end of March, OneWeb completed the launch of its LEO constellation with more than 588 satellites in orbit.

“Because we have strong partners in OneWeb and Hughes we’re ahead of schedule, and we continue to make tremendous progress on the development of the system components,” said Sergio Aguirre, President and CEO, Gogo.

Once Gogo’s LEO solution is commercially launched, almost 30,000 business jets without broadband connectivity will benefit from the connectivity service that is faster, smaller, and lighter. Customers who have installed an AVANCE system will only need to add the antenna to use the LEO satellite network.

The company is also making steady progress in expanding its 5G network into the global market by launching services in the U.S. and Canada.
