Hillsboro Aviation Receives First Load of Sustainable Fuel

Hillsboro Aviation (KHIO) welcomed the first load of 8,000-gallon Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) this month in the US state of Oregon.

The truckload delivery of SAF, in collaboration with Avfuel Corporation and Neste, is the beginning of the company’s green journey in securing consistent supply of the alternative fuel.

“Our Oregon roots, as a company and as a team, mean we’re passionate about doing what’s right for the environment, and, in turn, what’s right for our team, our customers and our community. It’s a point of real pride for our team to be the first FBO to welcome SAF supply in Oregon,” said Ryan McCartney, vice president and chief operating officer, Hillsboro Aviation.

Keith Sawyer, manager of alternative fuels, Avfuel, said the team at Portland’s Hillsboro Aviation is passionate about environmental conservation, which made it the perfect first FBO partner to establish SAF supply in the state.

SAF is one of the most effective ways to reduce the carbon emissions of air travel. Compared to fossil jet fuel, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions can be reduced by up to 80% by using neat and concentrated Neste SAF.

Founded in 1980, Hillsboro Aviation offers comprehensive helicopter and airplane services to domestic and international markets in the government, commercial, and private sectors. Amongst others, it it also home to the NIKE fleet of corporate jets.
