US-based fractional operator NetJets has become the fleet launch customer for Bombardier’s new Global 8000 private jet.
The Berkshire Hathaway company placed a firm order for four aircraft and will convert eight of its existing firm orders for other Global aircraft into Global 8000 orders.
The four firm orders are worth USD$312 million at 2022 list prices.
Launched during the 2022 edition of the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland, the Global 8000 builds on the success of the Global 7500 by upping the aircraft’s speed to Mach 0.94, and increasing the range to 8,000nm, making it the fastest flying business jet ever built.
“The new Global 8000 aircraft is the ultimate solution for NetJets’ discerning Owners, offering a truly seamless private aviation experience,” said Eric Martel, President and CEO, Bombardier. “NetJets’ experience and expertise make them the ideal partner to unlock the full potential of this revolutionary Mach 0.94 business jet in a large fleet context. Our valued relationship continues to grow stronger, and we are proud to share this historic milestone together.”
As well as placing a new order and converting existing orders, Bombardier says that NetJets will be upgrading its current fleet of Global 7500s into Global 8000s. Once all aircraft are delivered and upgraded, NetJets will have a fleet of 24 Global 8000s.
“The new Global 8000 will help us to continue offering our Owners, specifically our international travelers, the pinnacle in unforgettably personalized experiences aboard the finest ultra-long-range aircraft available,” said Patrick Gallagher, President of Sales, Marketing, and Service, NetJets. “With inventory sold out through 2023 in the U.S., we are continuing to invest in further expansion for prospective Owners in North America and across the globe. In fact, by the end of 2023, we are proud to share that our worldwide fleet will be approximately 30% larger than it was in the beginning of 2022.”
