Signature Aviation Receives Green Operations Certification

Signature Aviation, the US FBO operator, has received environmental certification for sustainable operations for its Vail Valley Jet Center in Colorado.

According to the Signature, the certification awarded by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) is because it has outpaced other private aviation service providers.

The efforts of the jet center, which consists of 22 different criteria, will reduce 678 metric tonnes of CO2 it emits every year.

“This certification is bold step towards becoming a truly sustainable business which includes our organization’s goals for carbon neutrality. Through our partnership with NATA and the Eagle County Regional Airport, we’ve been able to realize a meaningful impact right here in the Colorado Rockies,” said Paul Gordon, President and General Manager, Signature Aviation’s Vail Valley Jet Center.

The organization identified ways to reduce emissions and increase efficiency, which include electrification of its ground service vehicle fleet, the acquisition of electric powered fuel trucks, the installation of LED bulbs and the consumption of bio-diesel among others.

FBOs provide private aircraft and travelers with critical infrastructure and services, including aircraft fueling, handling, hangar storage, and maintenance.

Signature’s Vail center started refueling aircraft with sustainable aviation fuel sourced from renewable feedstock in 2022.
