Sino Jet Reduces Emissions by More Than 20% in 2022

Sino Jet, the largest business jet operator in Asia-Pacific recently released its annual greenhouse gas emissions report, which showcased remarkable progress in reducing its carbon footprint. In 2022, Sino Jet achieved a significant 20.93% decrease in total greenhouse gas emissions, amounting to 24,997.06 metric tons, when compared to the previous year. Furthermore, per capita, emissions witnessed a remarkable decline of 31.6%. These achievements mark a significant milestone since the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality and will undoubtedly catalyze research and exploration of energy-saving and emission-reducing practices in the business aviation industry.

Recognizing the critical importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions for global sustainable development, Sino Jet has consistently demonstrated foresight and a strong sense of social responsibility as one of the early adopters of a “Green Aviation” development strategy in the business aviation sector. In 2022, Sino Jet successfully completed China’s first carbon-neutral business jet flight. It has also taken the lead in announcing a carbon neutrality plan, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in its owned fleet, ground support operations, and office management by 2025. Prior to that, Sino Jet has already influenced more than 20% of its managed aircraft to achieve carbon-neutral flight operations, ultimately striving to achieve comprehensive business carbon neutrality by 2035.

Under the Sino Jet umbrella, companies such as Sino Jet Beijing, Sino Jet Hong Kong, Sino Jet International, Fareast Aviation, and GEOSTAR have established operational bases in over 20 cities worldwide. These subsidiaries revolve around integrated business jet travel, including aircraft transactions, operational management, maintenance engineering, charter services, ground support, private jet terminal operations, and luxury travel. According to the Asia-Pacific Business Jet Fleet Report by Global Sky Media, Sino Jet has maintained its position as the largest business aviation fleet in the Asia-Pacific region for four consecutive years. In 2022 alone, Sino Jet introduced five business jets.

According to data disclosed by Sino Jet, its total greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 were 24,997.06 tons, a 20.93% decrease compared to 2021. Scope 1 emissions accounted for 89.67% of the total emissions, primarily from fuel combustion. Scope 2, mainly from electricity and heat in office buildings, accounted for 1.31%. Scope 3 emissions, including commuting, business travel, use of goods, and waste disposal, accounted for 9.02%. Greenhouse gas emissions from all three categories have been reduced.

Sino Jet attributes the largest share of its greenhouse gas emissions to fuel combustion, a consequence of the predominant use of fossil fuels in the aviation industry. To address this challenge, Sino Jet is actively prioritizing energy efficiency in aircraft selection and utilizing technological advancements to enhance aviation fuel utilization during daily operations. Moreover, the company is actively engaged in discussions and research with aircraft manufacturers on the development and implementation of new energy aircraft. As a result of these effective measures and practices, Sino Jet achieved a noteworthy 20.75% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from fuel combustion in 2022 compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, Sino Jet has made continuous investments in digital technology to optimize its integrated operational platform, enabling comprehensive and efficient digital system applications for the lifecycle management of business aviation assets. These advancements in digital technology have not only improved operational efficiency but also elevated safety standards. Sino Jet has developed an enterprise carbon management platform, aligning with ISO 14064-1 and referencing the Greenhouse Gas Protocol developed by the World Resources Institute. A platform is established to enable comprehensive monitoring and management of greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the company’s operational processes.

Leveraging these advantages, Sino Jet combines its enterprise carbon management platform with its integrated operational platform and customer service systems, providing business jet users with clear visibility of greenhouse gas emissions at each stage of their flights. With energy-saving and emission-reduction solutions, these users can achieve lower carbon emissions during their business jet flights. “Our clientele consists of industry giants from various sectors. Additionally, Sino Jet has been gradually optimizing energy-saving and emission reduction management at the corporate operations level, through organizing various low-carbon promotion activities, expanding the application of ground-based new energy vehicles, and introducing a green supplier directory, among other initiatives. According to its data, the largest reduction proportion was observed in Scope 3 emissions resulting from daily operational activities, with a decrease of 24.44%.

The company was invited as a representative to attend the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2022.
