SmartSky’s Connectivity Service for Cessna Citation X Ready to Install

SmartSky’s air-to-ground (ATG) connectivity service is available for Cessna Citation X series aircraft, connectivity service provider SmartSky Networks announced.

The progress was achieved following Smartsky’s successful Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the aircraft in August.

In a plan to make its ATG connectivity available for over 7,000 business jets and turboprop aircraft across 14 aircraft models manufactured by Textron Aviation, SmartSky plans to begin installations of its ATG service by this year at the eleven Textron Aviation Service Centers in the US.

Aircraft including the Cessna Citation Excel 560 series, the Beechcraft King Air B200/250/300/350 series, and additional Textron Aviation models like the Cessna Citation Sovereign are expected to install its ATG service after completing the STC.

SmartSky announced in July that its ATG connectivity is now available nationwide for aircraft flying on routes across the US. The company has previously been awarded STCs for aircraft from Textron Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, Bombardier and Embraer.

SmartSky Networks essentially provides airborne passengers in the US with high-speed Internet access through its network of antennae on the ground.
