StandardAero Acquires Western Jet

StandardAero has acquired California-based business jet maintenance firm Western Jet Aviation, marking the 12th acquisition of the company in seven years.

Western Jet Aviation has Gulfstream maintenance service at Van Nuys Airport in California, with another facility located at Miami-Opa Locka, Florida Executive Airport.

The acquisition strengthens StandardAero’s MRO offering on the U.S. West Coast, and brings the company an additional 10-acre facility at Van Nuys Airport, including 120,000 square feet of hangar, ramp and office space, along with around 100 employees.

“Western Jet Aviation’s broad range of business aviation MRO capabilities expands our facility footprint, customer base, geographic reach, and repair portfolio to facilitate continuing growth for StandardAero,” said Russell Ford, Chairman and CEO, StandardAero.

StandardAero, owned by investment firm Carlyle, has continuously expanded its MRO offering through acquisitions, including the purchase of Vector Aerospace in 2017 in Europe and Signature Aviation’s engine repair and overhaul business in 2021.

“After nearly 50 years in aviation, it was time for me to pass the reins. We have accomplished so much at Western Jet, but it was also time to find the right partner to help Western Jet go to the next level,” said Jim Hansen, founder, Western Jet Aviation.

Western Jet Aviation specializes in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Gulfstream aircraft, offering maintenance programs, avionics installations, and interior refurbishments. It also performs line maintenance on a variety of engine types and APUs commonly used on business aircraft.
