Textron Aviation said all of its Kansas-based facilities were powered solely by wind electricity throughout 2022. The company’s use of clean, renewable wind energy is part of its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and support wind energy production in Kansas.
To drive green energy transition in the US state of Kansas, the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) introduced a renewable participation service in 2018, giving companies access to wind energy at lower rates. As a result, Textron Aviation started to use energy from a 300 MW wind farm in 2021 following a multi-year agreement with green energy provider Evergy.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment, and it demonstrates our company’s continued commitment to a more sustainable future for our employees, communities and customers,” said Brad White, senior vice president of Operations.
The Kansas-headquartered aviation company has set a goal of reducing 20% of its greenhouse emissions by 2025. Earlier in March, more than 20 Textron service centers have received recertification of green aviation from the National Air Transportation Association.
