CAE Unveils Mixed Reality Flight Simulator for eVTOL Pilot Training

CAE launched its new 700MXR Flight Simulator at the Farnborough International Air Show.

The flight simulator combines a mixed reality display alongside real cockpit controls, which will help prepare pilots for flying in complex urban settings.

“The CAE 700MXR’s ultra-realistic simulation bridges the gap between the physical and virtual worlds to deliver an unrivalled training experience for future eVTOL pilots,” says Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Civil Group President.

Volocopter and CAE are also collaborating on developing and certifying a pilot training program to operate Volocopter’s aircraft.

“Pilots will play a pivotal role in launching electric air taxi services,” adds Christian Bauer, Volocopter’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Volocopter’s pilot training program will support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) operations for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Volocopter recently unveiled a public exhibition for its eVTOL at Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
