China Builds up Firefighting Capacity

China has ramped up its firefighting capacity and has plans to deploy over 6,000 firefighters and 10 helicopters to high-risk fire zones for firefighting missions.
To cope with the challenges posed by climate change and extreme weather, China’s State Council published a new document on strengthening forest and grassland fire prevention and control.
The rapid advancement of aviation infrastructure aims to enhance the effectiveness of firefighting and rescue operations, Yan Peng, Assistant Director, the National Fire Rescue Bureau of China said during a press conference held on May 17.
The Chinese authorities also have plans to establish an aviation emergency rescue headquarter.
With the implementation of the new plan, the demand for firefighting helicopters such as Bell 412EPI and Bell 407GX has the potential to pick up. Simplex Aerospace has gained approval from the Chinese aviation authorities for its fire attack system intended for use on the Bell 412.
