China’s AVIC Flies AC332 Helicopter for First Time

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a state-owned aircraft manufacturer, successfully completed the first flight of its light-twin AC332 helicopter in Tianjin, China.

On the same day, AVIC received 24 orders for the multipurpose helicopter from several Chinese companies. The aircraft developed by AVIC is able to take off in plateau areas and will be used for a variety of purposes, including air transport and medical emergency services.

The helicopter, nicknamed “Auspicious Bird” in Mandarin, features a four-bladed main rotor and can seat up to 10 passengers. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 3,850 kg and a maximum cruise speed of 260 km/h. The AC332 helicopter, with a maximum flight range of 693 km, is expected to obtain its type certificate in 2025.
