FAA Certifies Robinson’s R66 Police Helicopter for Night Vision Goggles
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified Robinson Helicopter Company for its Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatible configuration on its R66 police helicopter.
The aircraft’s lighting system, instruments and avionics were also evaluated for both daytime and nighttime operations in the Florida Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).
The helicopter manufactured by Robinson was delivered to the sheriff’s office on September 30th as the second R66, and the third one is slotted for delivery in January 2022.
The PCSO air support usually provides air support for territories and remote counties with lakes and flatlands with little to no illumination at night.
