LCI and SMFL Add Helicopters to Joint Venture

LCI’s joint venture (JV) with Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company (SMFL), has acquired five additional helicopters.

This brings the JV’s total helicopter fleet size to 38 aircraft, with a value of over US $420 million.

The JV’s fleet size has doubled from 19 aircraft since being formed in 2020.

The breakdown of the acquisition includes two Airbus H145 D3, two Airbus H145 T2, and one Leonardo AW139.

The JV’s fleet operates in countries including the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, and Australia. 75% of total fleet operations are made up of emergency medical services, search and rescue, as well as offshore wind farm support.

“Our continued expansion is a clear demonstration of the initial success and long-term potential of LCI’s partnership with SMFL. Using our collective expertise, I am confident that we can achieve further growth with an increasing focus on socially aware helicopter missions across the globe,” states Jaspal Jandu, Chief Executive Officer of LCI.

Jaspal Jandu recently talked with Asian Sky Media about further opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, including the future role of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles.
