Leonardo Names Helitech Asia as AW09 Distributor in Southeast Asia
Leonardo has named Helitech Asia PTE LTD as its distributor for AW09 helicopters in Southeast Asia.
The appointment was announced during the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition 2023 in Malaysia held from May 23 to 27.
As Leonardo’s Southeast Asia distributor, Helitech Asia will distribute the AW09 single-turbine helicopter to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, and Vietnam, where there has been strong demand for the AW09.
During the HAI Heli-Expo 2023 in Georgia, U.S., Leonardo secured preliminary sales contracts for more than 50 AW09s with multiple customers, including 10 units and 10 options for Helitech Asia.
The AW09 can be used for various purposes, including passenger transport, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and utility missions.
The announcement regarding Helitech Asia comes after Leonardo received an order for one AW109 GrandNew and one AW109 Trekker from Sloane, its UK and Ireland regional distributor, at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Rome-based firm got a further order for an AW609 tiltrotor and five AW139s from Weststar, a Malaysia-based provider of offshore helicopter services, at LIMA.
