Nepal Bans Simrik Air Helicopter Flights

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has banned all helicopter flights of Simrik Air to conduct further inspections following a deadly crash.

Following the ban, the CAAN said the company will not operate any flights until further notice. The regulatory body has started an investigation into whether Simrik had followed air safety standards during the flight.

The Airbus Helicopters H125 helicopter crashed in the Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha district while landing on Friday, killing one person and injuring four others. According to local media, the helicopter was carrying construction materials when the accident happened.

“In connection with the accident of Simrik Air 9N-AJZ (AS350B3e) Helicopter, CAAN has suspended all flight operations of Simrik Air for detailed inspection of all its aircraft and auditing of the organization in areas of Flight Operations, Airworthiness and Safety Management System,” the CAAN tweeted.
