The Norwegian Air Ambulance has ordered two H145s from Airbus which will be used for helicopter emergency air medical services (HEMS). The latest acquisitions will add to its current fleet of H135s and H145s.
The organization currently operates 13 HEMS helicopters purchased from Airbus. The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation, the mother company of Norwegian Air Ambulance, was the first operator of the five-bladed H145 back in 2020.
The latest two-engine H145 model has a simpler rotor design for easier maintenance. The aircraft also has a larger load capacity and is more comfortable to ride. There are more than 1,600 H145 family helicopters operating in the world that have logged more than 7 million flight hours.
“The five-bladed H145 has proven to be the perfect helicopter for our HEMS operations,” said Leif Olstad, CEO, the Norwegian Air Ambulance.
Airbus Helicopters provides 54% of the world’s HEMS helicopters.
