Pratt & Whitney Canada Strengthens Partnership with ITP Aero

Pratt & Whitney Canada has appointed ITP Aero to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services on their engines.

The appointment of ITP Aero as a Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of PW200 engines is a milestone for ITP Aero, which further strengthens the relationship between the two companies and expands ITP Aero’s MRO portfolio.

The DOF designation is important for MRO facilities as it allows them to perform work on engines without voiding the manufacturer’s warranty and ensures that the work is done to the manufacturer’s specifications.

The PW200 engines power light-to-medium weight helicopters such as the Airbus H135, Finmeccanica AW109E Power and AW109 Grand, Bell 427 and 429, Kazan Ansat, and the MD Explorer 900 series.

ITP Aero, the Spain-based company, has become the ninth-largest aircraft engine and components manufacturing company in the world in terms of revenue. It is involved in various activities such as designing, researching, developing, manufacturing, casting, assembling, and testing aeronautical engines. The company also provides MRO services for engines used in regional airlines, business aviation, helicopters, industrial, and defense applications.

“As an independent company, this is a great opportunity for us, and adds to our long-standing relationship with Pratt & Whitney Canada. We share strong synergies with Pratt & Whitney Canada, and as we look at future programs, we believe there is great potential to further build on our shared capabilities”, Pablo Fuentes, Head of In Service Support in ITP Aero.
