STARS Receives Over $500,000 from Canadian Municipality

STARS (formerly Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) has received more than $500,000 from Sturgeon County, a municipality in central Alberta, Canada.

The municipality has invested a total of more than $550,000 in STARS since 2006 to help the Canadian non-profit helicopter air ambulance organization protect its communities and citizens. Sturgeon County will have its logo displayed on one of STARS’ new H145 helicopters.

“This is what we mean when we say STARS was built by the community, for the community,” said Andrea Robertson, president and CEO, STARS. “We hope everyone in Sturgeon County feels a sense of pride when you see your logo on the helicopter, knowing that you are helping us save lives. We are very grateful for this support and this solid relationship.”

STARS is funded by individual donors, service groups, corporate donors and government contributions. The organization operates a fleet of Airbus H145 and BK117 helicopters for helicopter Emergency Medical Service (EMS) operations and has carried out more than 3,500 missions in western Canada.
