Finnish Operator Flies First ACH130 with Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Helsinki Citycopter’s ACH130 recently became the first ACH130 to fly using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The flight took off from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

Helsinki Citycopter is a Finland-based operator of charter and air tour services.

“We are a young company, established in 2020, and our commitment to sustainability for future generations is part of our DNA,” explains Joonas Nurmi, CCO, and Co-Founder of Helsinki Citycopter.

“That’s why we will start using Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel in our new ACH130s as the first helicopter company to do so in Northern Europe” Nurmi added.

The operator will begin to replace fossil aviation fuel with SAF at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

The initial replacement aims to reduce the company’s annual fuel bill by 10%, using a mixture of 38% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and 62% fossil aviation fuel.

According to Asian Sky Media’s Civil Helicopter Report 2021, Airbus Helicopter is the largest helicopter OEM in the Asia-Pacific region.
