GAMA: Q1 Business Jet Deliveries Remain Consistent with 2022

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) has shown 118 business jet deliveries in the first quarter of 2023 in its Q1 2023 aircraft shipments and billings report. The number is consistent and is one less than the same period in 2022.

Textron had the most shipments of all business jet manufacturers throughout Q1 2023, with the Kansas-based OEM delivering 35 business jets (115 aircraft in total), including seven Cessna Citation CJ3+ and seven Cessna Citation Latitude aircraft.

Deliveries for both piston and turboprop aircraft increased significantly year-over-year, with the number of deliveries increasing by 10.1% and 6.4% respectively.

Despite the total number of aircraft deliveries (piston, turboprop and business jet aircraft) increasing by 6.7% to 528 units compared to the first quarter of 2022, the total value of aircraft billings declined by 3.5% year-over-year to $3.7 billion.

Helicopter deliveries were more robust compared to the first quarter of 2022; with 56 piston helicopters shipped (up 40.0% year-over-year) alongside 153 turbine helicopters (up 53.0% year-over-year). Growth in helicopter billings followed the significant growth in deliveries, increasing by 59.9% compared to the first quarter of 2022, to $0.8 billion.

Airbus Helicopters increased its deliveries by 89% year-over-year, notably with deliveries of its H125 increasing from 14 to 30. The most delivered helicopter type over the quarter was the Robinson R66, with 31 units shipped.
