Metrojet Supports Hong Kong Students in Model Aircraft Competition

Hong Kong-based Metrojet recently sponsored several Hong Kong University student’s entry into a model aircraft competition held in the UK, in the hope of encouraging local students to take up flying and mechanical engineering-related activities.

Metrojet has sponsored the DBF team, a group of students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, in making their own unmanned, electric-powered and radio-controlled aircraft from scratch since December 2021.

The DBF team sent two groups of students to the UK and came first and second in the competition in June this year.

The event was held on June 14-15 at the BMFA National Centre near Grantham, Lincolnshire, where a total of 20 university teams, consisting of renowned institutes from around the world, took part in the annual event.

The DBF team, formed by undergraduate students of the University of Hong Kong, also joins the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Design, Build & Fly Competition and the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) University and Schools Payload Challenge each year.
