Piper Aircraft Applies Drilling Robot in Aircraft Production

U.S. aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft has brought Wilder Systems’ Agile Manufacturing Robot to the M600/SLS production line.
The machine that measures 12 feet by 8.5 feet will increase production in the factory and help meet the growing demand for the M600/SLS in today’s market. The robot is programmed to drill holes for PA-46-600TP wings production and has a safety system that will halt operation once an object enters the area.
“As we’ve been manufacturing hand-crafted aircraft for over 85 years, we’re constantly finding new methods of increasing both product quality and manufacturing efficiencies to benefit our customers,” said Greg Spadaro, Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain, Piper Aircraft, stressing the importance of investing in the latest technology.
The Piper M600/SLS is a six-seat single-engine turboprop aircraft built in Vero Beach, Florida. It features the Garmin G3000 avionics suite and an EROS quick-don oxygen mask stored just aft of the cockpit overhead panels.
