Piper’s Turboprop Models Get Ready for SAF

Piper Aircraft, the U.S. general aviation aircraft manufacturer, announced that its turboprop models are now approved to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The move is part of the company’s efforts to drive sustainability.

According to Piper Aircraft, the M500, M600, and many Meridian models can now use SAF, which is a low-carbon alternative to traditional jet fuel. The approval comes after extensive testing and evaluation of the fuel’s performance and compatibility with Piper’s engines.

SAF is made from renewable sources such as agricultural waste, used cooking oil, and other organic materials. It has been shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional jet fuel. The use of SAF is seen as a key strategy for reducing the aviation industry’s carbon footprint and achieving global climate goals.

The move is also in line with the company’s broader sustainability goals. Piper Aircraft has been at the forefront of electric aircraft development, with the introduction of the electric Piper Archer TX. The company has also been working to reduce the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes and facilities.

The electric Archer TX is a two-seat trainer aircraft that is powered by an electric motor and a rechargeable battery. The aircraft is designed to be quieter and more environmentally friendly than traditional training aircraft.

The approval of SAF in Piper’s turboprop models is expected to have a positive impact on the aviation industry as a whole.
