Skyports CEO: Use Vertiports as “Active Testbeds”

Skyports, alongside Astral Aerial Solutions and Swoop Aero, have conducted Kenya’s first Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations.
The project was led by Astral Aerial Solutions and is a major step for drone logistics in Kenya.
The partnership aims to provide last-mile drone deliveries for the health sector. The drones will transport vital medical cargo, such as vaccines, medicines and samples to healthcare facilities in hard to reach areas.
“We have created an incredible partnership with Astral – the leaders in Kenyan drone operations and Swoop Aero – our long time technology partners – to bring safe, efficient and cost-effective drone deliveries to rural Kenya,” states Alexa Brown, Head of Drone Services at Skyports.
Flights were first launched in May 2022. Permanent drone deliveries are slated to begin by Q1 2023.
Skyports recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PARK24.
