Geely’s Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft Patent was Granted

According to data from Tianyancha, a recent patent application by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and Chengdu Wofei Tianyi Technology for a ‘vertical take-off and landing aircraft’ has been approved.

The patent is said to improve the utilization efficiency of the tail wing structure of eVTOL aircraft.

Geely displayed a uniquely shaped flying car during the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, which was jointly designed with German eVTOL manufacturer Volocopter.

However, earlier in 2022 Geely disclosed its patent for the appearance of an aircraft fuselage, which shows several design improvements over its previously released aircraft design.

Whilst the original images showed an aircraft with single cabin structure, the newly released design shows two cabins, making the aircraft appear more like a traditional helicopter.

Geely’s patent is one of many that the company now holds as it works towards launching a flying car with Volocopter in 2024.
